BACK PACK PROGRAM
Tuesday, 17 November 2009
This program was started with a $3,000 Venture Grant from United Way of Greater High Point. The grant serves two schools and private individuals fund an additional school. In this program, students selected by guidance counselors are given backpacks filled with food for the weekend. The students return the empty backpacks on Monday.

Local folks have rallied to help Community Outreach of Archdale-Trinity fill the backpacks.
A few weeks ago, the NEWS challenged individuals, churches and businesses to help the organization in its effort to maintain the Back Pack Program, which provides food for children who lack sufficient food for the weekends.
Monetary and food donations have been received and are appreciated, said COAT Executive Director Rita Walker.
COAT will continue its campaign throughout the school year.
